People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing — that’s why we recommend it daily.

From Alan Weiss at Summit Consulting. He publishes a weekly focus point worth reading.
This week’s focus point: You can use judgment without being judgmental. Slapping labels on people (High M, RNTJ, expressive/compulsive/regressive) diminishes communication and makes the tacit assumption that they are somehow damaged and inferior because they are in a "category." Once you start seeing "types" and stop seeing people, you've stopped applying your judgment and your discernment, and you're no longer listening and learning.

Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force… When we are listened to, it… makes us unfold and expand. Ideas actually begin to grow within us and come to life.

I like Weiss' stuff, but I don't totally agree with him on one specific. As a fan of the MBPI, I tend to find personality typing to be beneficial to communication. I think one's style of communication is as important as the content. It doesn't matter what you say if your style is screaming a different message. (Picture the guy on a box screaming with his best hellfire and damnation voice that Jesus loves you.) So, I think Weiss' point is valid, but, if you're waiting for a clear, crisp delineation of opinions from (without a lot of paranthetical editorial), you'll be severely frustrated. If, however, you expect an ADD version of GK Chesterton, I may be easier to deal with.
