Stunning flashes of brilliance and creativity

Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk

Doug Larson

New research indicates that dogs and 2-year-old children are on the "same mental plane" and have similar developmental abilities.

“Their stunning flashes of brilliance and creativity are reminders that they may not be Einsteins but are sure closer to humans than we thought,” Coren said in a prepared statement.

Most dogs can learn about 165 words.  They can even count to four or five (how could you tell?).

The research implies that dogs have problem-solving skills.  Previously, problem solving skills were believed to be limited to primates and humans.

The top five smartest dog breeds are:

1. Border collies
2. Poodles
3. German shepherds
4. Golden retrievers
5. Doberman pinscher

I knew Labs wouldn’t make the cut…
