I’m pledging to cut the deficit

This might not be the end of the world, but I think you can see it from here…

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

P. J. O'Rourke

Well, think of something happy – now!  Before you read the rest of this.

You’ve likely heard that the federal debt is more than $14.5 trillion.  That’s $139,275 per taxpayer.  In 2009 the average taxpayer made $49,000.  That’s a lot of federal debt.  2.84 times their income.

It gets worse.

Including unfunded liabilities the US is in debt for more than $75 trillion dollars.

Individual taxpayer debt = $720,390. 14 times average income per taxpayer?

“This is a big f---ing deal”

Joe Biden, in regard to the now called, Obama Tax

The 2011 GDP was about $15 trillion. Our reported Federal debt is over 100% of GDP. The actual Federal debt, with entitlements is 503% of GDP. So much for responsibility from the politicians.

BTW, check out the debt clock on the right or go to http://www.usdebtclock.org/ for a detailed look at the state of the economy.

On top of the Federal debt, there’s state debt:

I guess I know where I’m moving.  It’s not Connecticut (no. 1 - think bankruptcy in Bridgeport).  Or California (no. 44), where there are three cities that have declared bankruptcy.  Another one in Alabama (Jefferson County).  How about Alaska where they could cover $21,200 of my $139,000.

“…today I’m pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office. This will not be easy. It will require us to make difficult decisions and face challenges we’ve long neglected. But I refuse to leave our children with a debt that they cannot repay — and that means taking responsibility right now, in this administration, for getting our spending under control.”

Barack Obama, 2009

The last time the US passed a real budget was in 1997. The last ‘Omnibus Spending Bill’ was 2009. Now we’re down to ‘Continuing Resolutions’.  And, and, in May 2012, Obama’s budget was defeated in the Senate 99-0. 99-0?  You got to give it to Congress they’re doing a heck of a job.

They're all doing one heck of a job.

Joe Biden

"You know, a year from now, I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress but there is still going to be some pain out there. If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition."

Barack Obama, 2009

I’ll take him up on that.

How could ANYONE in the US re-elect a single politician?  The banksters have won.  We lost.

Aw, this is just crazy talk.  Back to happy thoughts.
