Which quote is racist and why?

If we’re honest, for a lot of well-meaning, open-minded, white people, the site of a young black man in a hoodie, still evokes a twinge of fear,

Hillary Clinton

These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty… these types of guys… they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home. Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young, white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road.

Which quote did you see in the news?

  1. #1 feels racist to me. Hoodies don't scare me, black men don't scare me... I look more for the 'attitude' of the strut, how he holds his hands, if he'll meet me in the eye or return my greeting, etc. Lots of people wear hoodies... clothing is not the issue. Women have to always be vigilant if they don't want to be a victim - coming from someone who travels alone in a lot of places (foreign and domestic).

#2 is not free from racism, either... at least it's talking about the actions of the "D-Money, Smoothie and Shifty" characters... but any girl who suffers an unplanned "impregnation" will need the help of her community, not just the white ones.
