And suppose you were a member of Congress

Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.

Mark Twain

The annual salary of the President of the United States is $400,000 per year, including a $50,000 expense allowance.

House and Senate salary is $174,000

Senate Majority/Minority Leader - $193,400

Speaker of the House - $223,500

House Majority/Minority Leader - $193,400

How about the president’s salary is limited to 2X the average annual income in the United States.

The Congress salary is limited to 1.5X the average annual income in the United States.

Any deficit spending must be first made up by reducing Congressional expenditures until they reach zero, then the Executive Branch.

All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.

  1. We need a federal initiative process! Imagine if 'we the people' got to vote on some of these bills they put out there (aka Pizza is a veggie).
Of course, if you thought they were unable to get anything done now... adding in a popular vote for passage would put a hard stop on everything. Some people might like that, though.

  2. You mean Pizza is not a veggie?
