For myself I am an optimist

A properly kept silence is a beautiful thing. It is nothing less than the father of very wise thoughts.

The Tour de France is over.  The Open is done, Wimbledon completed.  It seems like summer is over.  I guess it’s time to settle in with August.

Before you know it, School starts and the it’s busy again.  I’m glad the sun is shining.  Maybe, it’s time to go for a walk…

Anything is possible. You can be told that you have a 90 percent chance or a 50 percent chance or a 1 percent chance, but you have to believe, and you have to fight.

One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you are, what you believe in, and where you want to go

Thought that Jim would enjoy a recent Washington Post article about the good old days compared with the world of the web.

YOU CAN PUT PICKLES UP YOURSELF

“Call me a grumpy old codger, but I liked the old way better. For one thing, I used to have at least a rudimentary idea of how a newspaper got produced: On deadline, drunks with cigars wrote stories that were edited by constipated but knowledgeable people, then printed on paper by enormous machines operated by people with stupid hats and dirty faces.

“I basically like “comments,” though they can seem a little jarring: spit-flecked rants that are appended to a product that at least tries for a measure of objectivity and dignity. It’s as though when you order a sirloin steak, it comes with a side of maggots.”

Gene Weingarten,Washington Post

With the pickles headline you had to read it didn’t you.  If I had a Lady Gaga headline would you be inclined to read it?

For myself I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else...

If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at anytime, and you would achieve nothing

Maybe I should have stuck to one subject.  It’s Monday, Give me a break.  For great TDF pictures see: http://www.boston.com/
