I know that there are people who read this, who know someone looking for work. And I know it’s not you, but…you may want to review the following article and check out Mr. Warren’s blog. He has an interesting take on the job search odyssey that may be of benefit.
His blog intro states, “All of these adventures and many more happened while I was in the staffing business. This business saved my life and gave me everything. My passion for recruiting and my desire to pass on what I have learned to as many people as possible is what inspired this blog. I will help people overcome all the obstacles and challenges of the job search. “ Mark Warren.
A recent article about why people wait so long before they hire a job search coach:
All of my clients and probably the clients of all job search coaches made the decision to partner with a coach after trying everything else for 6+ months. If you ask them all they would tell you that they wished they had made the decision as soon as they lost employment. They all did everything they tried the last time they looked for a job until they realized that it doesn't work any more. They listened to recruiters who know nothing about mounting an effective job search. They were over confident that their background, skills and credentials would some how magically attract the opportunity of a lifetime. They did not want to invest the cost of hiring a professional to help them, yet one month of unemployment cost far more then the cost of a coach. Think about that. If by using a coach you reduce your unemployment by just one month you have more then paid for the coach. Everybody knows that using an experienced coach with solid references and recommendations will reduce the time you are unemployed. (as long as you do not hire a quack).
FYI a quack = a failed recruiter who decided to try coaching, An ex HR staffer who thinks they can coach, a social worker who wants to make more money and lots of other people who think coaching would be fun. You should also avoid a "career" coach who does not specialize in the job search. Please do not trust your future to a beginner/amateur.
